Architectural Stone: Services

Provo City Center
LDS Temple

In the early morning of December 17, 2010 a misplaced electrical light started a fire in the attic of the historic Provo tabernacle.  The fire completely destroyed the building except for the exterior masonry walls. In an effort to not only match the historic look of the structure but also to match the existing stone work on the building, Mountain Valley Quartzitic sandstone was selected to replace damaged stone accent elements and create new accent and landscape elements.  Because of the dense and durable nature of the stone, Mountain Valley stone was able to deliver the match to the original stone, some of which was able to be salvaged and reused from the original structure, as well as a promise to perform well for the decades or centuries to come.  This stone was also used extensively throughout the new underground parking structure.

USU Brigham City Campus

As Utah's largest Land Grant University, Utah State University has 17 campuses throughout the state.  The expansion of the Brigham City campus was an educational landmark for both the university and the state of Utah in providing premier medical programs for undergraduate students. Mountain Valley's Blond Sandstone was selected as the envelope for most of the building, paired with steel, glass and brick.  The stone was cut to a customized pattern and given a honed finish to give a more modern look - representing both the historic role of Utah State University in the last 100 years and proclaiming a prominent future of growth and innovation through the next 100 years.

Montage

An authentic yet refined mountain retreat located less than five minutes from Park City’s celebrated Main Street, and an easy 40‐minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport, Montage Deer Valley offers unrivaled ski‐in / ski‐out access to one of America’s best ski resorts, the largest spa in Utah, five inspired dining options including a pub with its own bowling alley, along with amazing year‐round activities including hiking, mountain biking, golf, outdoor concerts, and fly‐fishing.
Mountain Valley Sandstone was used to create elegant accent pieces throughout the resort, including pool coping, fireplaces, pathways, stone veneer walls, patios and arches.

City Creek Center

Salt Lake City’s 23-acre City Creek Center is a perfect balance of modern innovation and natural beauty. It challenges the paradigm of retail development by incorporating a bold landscape strategy to center a dense mix of residential households, offices, and retail spaces.

480 tons of Quartzitic Sandstone was quarried locally to supply the boulders that reinforce the authenticity of the creek and creates the bedrock for water flowing over the cascades.  The creek is the largest flowing watercourse built on-structure in the United States

Boyer Tower

Located conveniently in downtown Salt Lake City, this new building sits on the southeast corner of 100 South and 200 East. The building was designed to service Class-A office tenants and consists of a sandstone and glass exterior with a steel frame and concrete construction. This property includes a plaza area with trees and other landscaping.
